Artisanal Woven Belts by annie O.

Annie Waterman contacted me recently to share her latest exotic collection of hand-woven belts and accessories featured in her online shop, annie O. The Boulder-based designer's socially responsible textile design initiative features colorful, bags, belts (narrow and wide), and other accessories that are handcrafted by a women's weaving cooperative in the high Andes of Peru. The women that Annie's designs support are victims of domestic violence, and through fair-trade wage opportunities are able to make a new life for themselves. The designer is genuinely inspired by the rich traditional embroidery techniques of the region and the stories preserved through the motifs depicted. I believe wholeheartedly that artisanal pieces such as these truly embody the best of what it possible with eco fashion endeavors of a global reach.

"We are working towards breaking the cycle of poverty, while encouraging creativity and the use of imagination in the creation of each product. annie O. demonstrates that it is possible to create beautiful products while also creating a sustainable and positive change in developing countries" - annie O.
